Senior Software Engineer (Java)

Project overview

We are hiring a Senior Software Engineer (Java) to join Capitolis — a technology company transforming global financial markets by unlocking capital constraints and enabling safer, more efficient, and more accessible investment opportunities.

In this role, you will take an active part in designing, building, and scaling complex backend systems using Java and modern cloud-native technologies. You will collaborate closely with team leads, engineers, and product managers, contribute to architectural and technological decisions, and drive features from initial design through production. The position requires strong analytical thinking, ownership, and the ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Requirements

• B.Sc. degree in Computer Science, SW Engineering or equivalent (M.Sc. is an advantage)
• At least 8 years of experience in Java server-side development, including cloud services (preferably AWS)
• Experience in building complex, large-scale software solutions from scratch to live production
• Experience with Java, Spring Boot, Spring Data, JPA, Swagger, Maven, Kafka, PostgreSQL, Jenkins, GIT, RESTful Services, Docker
• Strong analytical skills
• Self-starter, fast learner, and great interpersonal skills
• Excellent English communication skills – spoken and written
• A “Can-Do” mentality and mindset
• Can learn and work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

Responsibilities

• Take active part in a team of developers working on Capitolis’ Capital Marketplace products
• Design software according to agreed standards, architecture, and requirements
• Work closely with team lead, team members and product managers in defining and implementing roadmap features
• Contribute and drive technological and architectural decisions
• Interface with various R&D groups, as well as support groups
• Create high-quality responsive UI applications
• Apply web standards for accessibility, responsive design, and support for all browsers
• Sharing knowledge as well as leading correct technological processes
• Proven ability to work autonomously and drive tasks forward
